In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Doris leaves behind and her impact on the lives of her loved ones. Though Doris may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the memories held dear by her family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesse Melvin Fowler (Azalia Rogers Fowler) and Doris; and her siblings, Valera Chambers, Lucille Rathbone, Laura Jean Jones, Mable Alello, Ruth Hawkins, Rufus Fowler and Joyce Henderson.
She is survived by: her husband John "J. T." Hightower of Clyde; her son John Daryl Hightower (Tracy) of Clyde; and her grandson John Robert Hightower (Juliet). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The lying in state will be held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Ray Funeral Home (1 N Main St, Canton, NC 28716). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery (21 Hemming Way, Clyde, NC 28721).
