He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis Smart and Cordelia Rogers Smart; and his brothers, David and Paul Smart. He is survived by: his wife Melba Greene Smart; his children, Summer Smart (Joe Scarborough), Silvia Smart Greenarch (Roger) and Charles Shennon Smart (Donna); his grandsons, Austin Paxton (Kennedy), Hunter Scarborough (Sarah), Jackson and Bryson Justice; and his great grandchildren, RaeLynn Scarborough and Elena Paxton.
