She was predeceased by: her mothers, Helen Gardner and Helen Vanleer; and her son Jack Shoemaker. She is survived by: her children, Norton Shoemaker (Joan) of Wilkes Barre, PA and Clare Johnston (Dave) of Maryville, TN; her stepdaughter Pat McCormick (Lucky) of Pleasantville, NJ.; her grandson William Johnston of Maryville, TN; her siblings, Clare Pierce and William Vanleer (Mary) of Bella Vista, AR.; her great-nephew Xavier Pierce of Clyde, NC.; her brothers, Paul Vanleer and Ed Vanleer; and her brother-in-law Barry Pierce.
In lieu of flowers, Gladys requested that donations be made to St. John's United Methodist Church, Harrisonville, NJ, and charity of your choice or: "just do a good deed for someone!".
