He was predeceased by: his parents, Houston Rich and Carrie Lanning Rich; his wife Bobbie Messer Rich; and his sons, Tony, Roy Lee and Roger Rich.
He is survived by: his children, Eyvonne Rich (Tommy) and Kenny Messer (Karen). He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Garrett Funeral Home (460 N Main St, Waynesville, NC 28786). A funeral service was held on Sunday, August 30th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations.
