He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Green Byrd and Minnie Williams Byrd; his wife Geraldine Ryan Byrd; his sons, Earl Byrd and Don Byrd; his grandson Jason Cartwright; and his siblings, Edna Hargis, Rosa Byrd, Retha Arrington, Marvin Byrd, Alice Parrish, Callie Fish, Raeford Byrd, Fred Byrd and Mavor Gregory.
He is survived by: his children, Joan Tart (Billy), William C. Byrd (Deborah), Gale Turlington (Alex) and Tony A. Byrd; his daughter-in-law Joan Byrd; and his grandchildren, Jason Byrd (Luvi), Jessica Trembly, Jennifer Duncan (Trey), Jonathan Tart (Stefanie), Julie Anzaldua (Aaron), Daniel Mahboub, Andrea Turlington and Zachary Turlington. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
