He was predeceased by: his wife Judy; Adam Penny. He is survived by: his children, Tom Shiel (Kelly) of Raleigh, NC and Jennifer Shiel of Coats, NC; his grandchildren, Katherine Shiel of Raleigh, NC and Riley Swearengin of Coats, NC; and his sister Martha Sweeney of Athens, GA.
A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Francis of Assisi Church (11401 Leesville Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613).
