He was predeceased by : his father Howard Wheeler Bowen. He is survived by : his mother Jane Earp Bowen; his sisters, Donna Bowen and Debbie Jean Bowen Cochran; his wife Anita (Nia); his children, Micah, Noah, Lauren and Leah; his niece Selene Cochran (David Stephens); his siblings-in-law, John and Christine Allen; his nieces and nephews, Reagan and Jonathan; and also, Johnny and Almeta Allen. He is also survived by his wife, children, family, and friends.

“Lee & I (Donna Hankin) were so saddened to hear of Steve's passing. We have truly enjoyed being with him. Steve was inspirational, his vision of the possibilities with our farmhouse renovation were significant and we will treasure his impact for years to come. We feel fortunate to have been able to visit, relax after a hard days work and share stories of our experiences. Since hearing of his departure we've had "heavy hearts".
