He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin Hughes and Hattie Mavis Gregory Hughes; his sons, Bennie Ray Hughes and Herbert Larry Hughes; his grandsons, Ricky Winders, Dustin Hughes and Brandon Lee Hughes; and his sisters, Shirley Jean Hughes, Sandra Gail Hughes and Sandy Wayne Hughes.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy M. Hughes; his daughters, Shelia H. Jones (Dave) and Nancy Mitchell (Eddie); and his sister Donna Hughes Wilkins. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 27th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Inc. (90 W Stewart St, Coats, NC 27521). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
