He was predeceased by: his parents, Dubert James Yates, Sr. and Geraldine Furr Yates; his brother Dubert James Yates, Jr.; and his grandparents, W. J. and Myrtle Marlow Furr.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Goodman Yates; his children, Amanda Truman (Josh) of Salisbury, Britney Strube (Kevin) of Mt. Pleasant and Jesse Yates (Josie) of Richfield; his siblings, Holly Millsaps of Wooster, OH, Sharrell Cartwright and Ed Yates of Australia; his grandchildren, Ryan Truman, Mason Truman, Asa Strube and Lyila Yates; his sister-in-law Lelani Goodman Cress (Suzanne Yates); and his pets, Peppa, Bandit and Ottie.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to American Cancer Society, Cold Water Lutheran Church of a charity of one's choice.
