He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Payton and Martha Davis; and his wife Annette Rochester. He is survived by: his brother Albert; his children, Ernest Jr., Yvette and Allen; his niece Aisha; his daughters, April Chaderton and Tina Payton; and his sister Doris Henry. He is also survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM at the Hartsell Funeral Home - Concord (460 Branchview Dr NE, Concord, NC 28025). A burial was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Salisbury National Cemetery (501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144).
