He is survived by: his wife Eileen Marie Wood; his children, Katherine "Katie" Wood (Andrew Henderson) of Ottawa, Ontario, George E. Wood Jr. (Stephanie) of Concord, Megan Ridenhour (Ralph) of Concord and Laura Wood (Kyle Riggan) of Raleigh; his siblings, Mark Wood (Patricia), Patricia Jackson (Jim) and Mary McGoff; and his grandchildren, Maeve, Ainsley, Jennings, Emmett, Tullis and Callen.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 17th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wilkinson Funeral Home (100 Branchview Dr NE, Concord, NC 28025). A Mass was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the St. James Catholic Church (139 Manor Ave SW, Concord, NC 28025).
