He was predeceased by: his daughter Lydia Ruth Cooke of New Bern, NC; his wife Becky Bass Cooke; his siblings, William R. Cooke, Jr., Harry Miller Cooke, Joseph Eason Cooke, Sarah Cooke Tyner and Hetty Cooke Curry; and his parents, William R. Cooke, Sr. and Lydia Eason Cooke.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. James H. Cooke, Jr. (Vicki) of Concord, NC, Clint Cooke (Janet) of Winterville, NC, Daniel L. Cooke (Felicia) of New Bern, NC and Angela Cooke Blanton (Michael) of New Bern, NC; his stepson Jeff Bass (Pam) of Wilson; and his sister Barbara Cooke Tripp of Greenville, NC. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Cotten Funeral Home thirty minutes prior to the service. in lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Evansdale FWB Church, 4334 Evansdale Rd.
