He is survived by: his children, Michael Menendez (Ellen), Mitchell Menendez (Susan), Tarah Helms (Tim) and Michelle Menendez; his sister Gerry Guerra; his grandchildren, Lucy, Jennie, Amy, Makayla and Josh; his sister-in-law Karen Bozeman (Don); his niece Taryn Bozeman (Frankie); his great-niece Kayla; his great-nephew Blake; his nephew Troy Bozeman (Jen); and his great-nephews, Cole and Cody.

“My brother was my most special person in this world. He was my go to person. I adored him. My son who is ill would not go to doctor without his uncle Joe. My brother also had many nieces on the Menendez Audrey, Ashley, Alanna and Alec .He had great nieces: Scarlet, Riley Cameron, Logan and as young as these children are they offered their condolences to me. My last words to him were in Spanish and I know he heard especially when I would say " mi amor, " meaning my love and he responded the same.”
