He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Claude Henry Miller and Lillian Hamilton Miller; his wife Carolyn; his sons, Ward (Kathryn) of Atlanta and Courtenay (Amelia) of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Rankin Langley (Travis) of Atlanta, Kenneth, III (Shawna) of Atlanta, Will of Atlanta, Virginia Self (Blake) of Charlotte, Payson Miller of New York City and Claude Miller of Washington, DC.; his son Whitney Hartsell Miller; his great grandchildren, Lillian, Eden, Lucie Langley, Patrick, Elise Miller and Margaret Self; his niece Lori Lentz; and his caregivers, Amy Carpenter, Tammy Childers and Sabre Furr.
