He was predeceased by: his parents, Zim Gwaltney and Haleen Gwaltney; and his siblings, James Henry Gwaltney, Richard Clarke Gwaltney and Edna Patricia Jerome.
He is survived by: his wife Renda Griffin Gwaltney; his children, Billy Gwaltney (Ann Marie) and Caroline Vergato (David); his grandchildren, Ava Gwaltney, Gavin Gwaltney, Luke Vergato and Clara Vergato; and his siblings, Gene Gwaltney and Elizabeth Tilley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
