He was predeceased by: his parents, Nettie Watts Griffin and Murray "Aubrey" Griffin. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Williams Griffin; his daughter Lisa Hutchison; his grandchildren, Caroline Whitaker Jarvis (Lane) and Nicholas Whitaker (Micaela); and his great grandchildren, Nora Jarvis, Emily Jarvis and Ellie Mae Whitaker.
