He was predeceased by: his parents, B. R. "Dock" Auten and Helen Hinson Auten; his wife Gwen; and his sister Ann Barbee Lewis. He is survived by: his son Timothy Wayne Auten; and his sister Beverly Auten Heilig.
A graveside service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Carolina Memorial Park (601 Mt Olivet Rd, Concord, NC 28025).
