He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Tillery, Sr. and Hazel Exum Tillery. He is survived by: his wife Catherine Tillery; his children, Tracy Tyson Tillery of Richmond, VA, Kevin Whitehead and Christina Anne Tillery of Richmond, VA; his stepdaughter Ruth N. Humpal of Lexington, NC; and his brothers, Joseph Tillery Jr. of Tarboro, NC, Dwane Tillery of Tarboro, NC, Tony Tillery of St. Louis, MO and Donald Ray Tillery of Battleboro, NC. He is also survived by three grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Friday, November 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Hemby-Willoughby Chapel (1800 Western Blvd, Tarboro, NC 27886). A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Red Hill M. Baptist Church Cemetery (15469 NC-33, Whitakers, NC 27891).
