He was predeceased by: his parents, Lillie Punch Sigmon and Carroll Monroe Sigmon. He is survived by: his sister Vera; his wife Shirley Hedrick Sigmon of Newton; his daughters, Sherry Buterbaugh (Jeff Buterbaugh) of Newton and Debbie Orr (Bill Orr) of Garner; his grandchildren, Joshua Hefner (Ginny McCabe) of Belgium, William Spivey (Laura Tripp Spivey) of Raleigh, Matt Spivey of Raleigh, Jules Spivey of Raleigh and Nat Spivey (Grace Thorpe) of Raleigh; and his great grandchild Thomas McCabe-Hefner of Green Bay.

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, he continued attending services virtually.
