With sadness, we share the passing of Ryu Thao of Conover, North Carolina. Ryu, born on August 10, 2007 in Catawba, North Carolina, passed away on October 19, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Ryu for his warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. While he will be deeply missed, the influence he had on the lives around him remains. He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Nhia Xiong Thao, Neng Xiong and Doua Thor. He is survived by: his parents, Trao Thao and Kia Vue; his siblings, Mali Thao, Alia Thao, Angel Thao and Christian Thao; his brothers-in-law, Jonathan Moua and Romeo Yang; and his nephew Sebastian Yang.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Catawba Funeral Home (3060 US Hwy 70 SE, Hickory, NC 28602). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 at the Final Resting Place Catawba Memorial Park (3010 US Hwy 70 SE, Newton, NC 28602).
