He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldon Shockley Adams, Sr. and Gladys West Dixon Adams; his children, Jennifer Louise "Jenny Lou" Adams and John Wesley Adams; his stepmother Frances Jane Hunter Adams; his brother Eldon Shockley Adams, Jr.; his daughter-in-law Miranda Jane "Mandy" Kelly Adams; and his uncle Raymond.
He is survived by: his wife Margery Jane Funk Adams; his sons, Thornton Dixon "Tad" Adams, Jr. (Janet) of Claremont, Rodger Lee Adams, Sr. (Donna) of Charlotte and Neil Smith Adams of Conover; his sister Hazelanne Adams Barber; his children, Richard Barber and Anne White; his grandchildren, Rodger Lee Adams, Jr. (Jessica) and Margery Alice Hagan (Christopher); his great grandchildren, Carmen Miranda Adams, Ralph Arthur Adams, Ruthie Lee Hagan and Patrick Dixon Hagan; his stepgrandson Dillon Hugh Sanders (Katherine); his stepgreat-grandson Damian Reinhardt Le; and his niece Susan Bach of Boston.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Bennett Funeral Service (7878 NC-16, Newton, NC 28658). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the First Methodist Church of Conover (410 1st Ave N, Conover, NC 28613). A burial will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at the Cross Hill Cemetery.
