It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas Lewis Baines (Corapeake, North Carolina), who passed away on November 24, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Shirley McClenny Baines and Thelma Blanchard Baines; his wife Carrie Mathias "June Bug" Baines; and his sisters, Martha Ann Hill and Geraldine Baines Speight.

He is survived by: his nephew Robert Benjamin (Bonnie West Speight); Robert A. Merrick, Corbin J. Matzen, Emma M. Matzen, Tolson S. Merrick, Jolie W. Matzen, Pamela S., John Merrick, Nicole S. and Christopher Matzen.
