He is survived by : his wife Barbara Showers; and his children, Brenda (Showers), John Tyson, Janet (Showers), Camillo Ottaviano, Chad, Judy Showers, Ronald and Sue Showers. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

“Dearest Barbara, We just heard of Arnie's passing. We had no idea that you were down here in NC. We think and talk of you both often. Arnie did so many loving and helpful things for us over the years and you have always been such a great cook/baker. We knew you had sold your home on Stanley Lake, but wish we'd known that you're here now. We will continue to think of and pray for you. Arnie was a loving and giving soul.
