He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor John and Minnie VanDyke; and his wife Gloria Jean Kennedy VanDyke. He is survived by: his children, John VanDyke (Kelly) of Delaware, Donna Mayle of Crumpler and Eric VanDyke (Sylvia) of Maryland; his grandchildren, Ashley Smedley (Chad) of Delaware, J. C, Amanda VanDyke of Delaware, J. C, Cody Mayle (Tasha) of West Jefferson, Amy Mayle of Crumpler, Chris VanDyke (Leah) of Maryland and Brittany Miller (Zack) of Maryland; and his nieces, Linda Cooper of Lansing, Jane Olguin of Florida and Caroline Roldan of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel (3470 U. S. Hwy 221 N, Jefferson, NC 28640).
