It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Elizabeth Tweedy of Cullowhee, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 91, on April 29, 2025. Though Elizabeth may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Elizabeth touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Eugene McDermott and Katherine McDermott of Lynchburg Virginia; her husband Eugene Tweedy; and her grandson Timor Tweedy. She is survived by: her children, Teresa Tweedy Kravetz, Michael Tweedy (Aloyna) and Julia Tweedy Ogletree (Bill). She is also survived by seven grandchildren and their beloved spouses/partners, and ten great grandchildren.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made in her memory to Jackson County Library for DEI programming and books or Cullowhee United Methodist Church.
