He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wood Smith and Juanita Wilson Smith; his wife Shirley Bryson; and his sisters, Ola Belle York and Shirley Ann Daniel.
He is survived by: his children, Janice Harris (Fred), Greg Smith and Scotty Smith; his grandchildren, Dean Smith, Angie Austin (Mike) and Pam Shuler (David); and his great grandchildren, Clay Austin (India), Yasi Gosnell (John), Mia Austin, Rhett and Mac Gosnell. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Speedwell Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
