It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Kevin Michael Kane of Cullowhee, North Carolina, born in Homestead, Florida, who passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 65, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his daughters, Caeley (Daniel) and Brienna (Alex); his wife Myra; his parents, Bill and Linda; and his siblings, Duncan (Chris), Kristin, Lorin, Robin (Melissa) and Jonathan (Heather).

Not long after setting out, the trail closed due to Covid.
