James Edward Bates Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Edward Bates of Dallas, North Carolina, who passed away on June 6, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Lou Bates and John Thomas Roland Bates; his wife Trudy Elizabeth Clubb Bates; and his daughter-in-law Kalyn Diaz Bates. He is survived by: his children, Bart Bates (Amy) of Kings Mountain, Tanice Bates Landrum (Bill) of Chapin, SC and Matthew Britt Bates of Bessemer City; and his grandchildren, Travis Bates (Lori) of Chapin, SC, Whitney Smith (Brendan) of Gastonia, Monet Waltman (Paris) of Pomaria, SC, Alana Proctor (Scotty) of Pomaria, SC, Krystal Ledford and Braesyn Bates of Bessemer City. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia (700 S New Hope Rd, Gastonia, NC 28054). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 12th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Dallas (412 W Trade St, Dallas, NC 28034).
