It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Edward Bates of Dallas, North Carolina, who passed away on June 6, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Lou Bates and John Thomas Roland Bates; his wife Trudy Elizabeth Clubb Bates; and his daughter-in-law Kalyn Diaz Bates. He is survived by: his children, Bart Bates (Amy) of Kings Mountain, Tanice Bates Landrum (Bill) of Chapin, SC and Matthew Britt Bates of Bessemer City; his grandchildren, Travis Bates (Lori) of Chapin, SC, Whitney Smith (Brendan) of Gastonia, Monet Waltman (Paris) of Pomaria, SC, Alana Proctor (Scotty) of Pomaria, SC, Krystal Ledford and Braesyn Bates of Bessemer City; and his brother Bobby Bates. He is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
