He was predeceased by: his wife Peggy Burton Sorrells; his former wife Sara Long Sorrells; his sisters, Marjorie Clayton and Gloria Wells; and his stepgrandson Houston Patterson.
He is survived by: his son Lyn Sorrells (Cheryl); his stepchildren, Pam Patterson, Rick Patterson (Joyce) and Mike Patterson (Lynn); his brother Raymond Sorrells (Shirley); his stepgrandchildren, Amber Hampton (Ashley), Paige Denton (Steven), Nate Patterson (Magaly) and Eli Patterson; and his stepgreat-grandchildren, Jake Denton, Christian Denton and Kadence Hampton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Dallas Methodist Church (301 W Main St, Dallas, NC 28034). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at the Hollywood Cemetery.
