He is survived by: his wife Betty Kate Jones Ruth; his children, Dorothy Elizabeth "Libby" Ruth of Monroe, NC, Ruth III of Concord, NC and David Ruth (Eva) of Kings Mountain, NC.; and his grandchildren, Carolyn, HL IV, Will Ruth, Andrew Ruth (Claire), Mary Kate Humphrey (Jayson) and Maggie Clifton (Timmy). He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
