He was predeceased by: his parents, Everette Hamilton and Lillie Stanley Hamilton; his daughter Teresa Hamilton Swann; and his brothers, Preston Hamilton, James Hamilton and Jackie Hamilton.

He is survived by: his wife Kathy Hamilton; his daughters, Kathy Surratt (Jonathan) of Trinity, NC and Angela Saunders (Kevin) of Denton, NC; his grandchildren, Sarah Saunders, Ethan and Logan Surratt; and his siblings, Rosa Sexton, Shelby Boothe, Alice Philips (Art), Euna Hamilton, Everett Hamilton Jr., Ira Hamilton (Miriam), Milton Hamilton (Vickie), William Hamilton (Diane) and Roy Hamilton.
