It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nell Varner Holt of Denton, North Carolina, who passed away on September 20, 2022, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Anderson Rogers and Maggie Mae Denny Rogers; her former husband James Grant Varner; her daughter Angela Szares; and her brothers, Fred Denny Rogers, Thomas Webb Rogers and William Rogers (Bill).

She is survived by: her husband Ernest Holt; her children, Sharon V. Ayers (David) of Denton, Richard Varner (Vivian) of Denton and Jimmy Varner of Salisbury; her stepdaughters, Carolyn Pressley and Barbara Parker; her sister Jean R Jarvis of Denton; her grandchildren, Michael Loman, Valerie Varner Sharma and Clay Ayers; her stepgrandchildren, Dawn Stevenson of Fayetteville, Pamela Miller of Fayetteville, Jonathan Parker (Kayce), Heather Holmes (Wesley), Phillip Pressley (Jordan) and Samantha Wentland (Brandon); her great grandchildren, Isabella and Eli; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Isaiah, Leah, Michaiah, Jannah, Johannah, Adah, Selah, Amelia, Henry and Harper.
