She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Reece Smith and Carmol Cloie Luther Smith; her former husband Dawson M. "Pee Wee" Carrick; and her brother Bobbie Smith. She is survived by: her children, Kelly Surratt (Todd) of Oak Island, NC and Brad Walton (Jammie) of Tampa, FL; her grandsons, Justin Surratt (Brittany) and Jadin Surratt; and her siblings, Derald Smith (Linda) and Ava Badgett (Sid). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Briggs Funeral Home (103 E Salisbury St, Denton, NC 27239). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel Hill Global Methodist Church (376 S Main St, Denton, NC 27239).
