He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Ray McDowell, Sr. and Mary Buie McDowell; his wife Shelby Loflin McDowell; his sons, Randy and Bobby McDowell; and his siblings, Harvey Ray McDowell, Jr., Jimmy McDowell', Hazel Hepler, Oudia Coble, Mary Linzey Russell and Virgie Whisant.
He is survived by: his daughter Annette Moore (Robert) of Denton; his sister Lucy Hartley of Mocksville; and his grandchildren, Nathaniel Moore, Brianna Moore and Marleigh Woodlief.
