She was predeceased by: her parents, Virgel Turner Thompson and Zetta Punch Thompson; her husband Herbert Buff; her siblings, Ralph, Jack, Paul Thompson, Bertha Little, Marie Killian, Plassie Thompson, Hazel Graham, Evelyn Bost, Macie Thompson and Ida Bell Schronce; and her granddaughter Alison Laney.

She is survived by: her children, Mitchell Buff (Bobbie) of Denver, NC, Martha Laney (Harold) of Maiden and Melita Beal (Randy) of Lincolnton; and her grandchildren, Kelly Shubert, Kim Carter, Kevin Buff, Abby Mauney, Julie Mauney, Greg Beal, Matthew Beal and Miranda Beal. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren.
