It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nonnie Matilda Collins in Dobson, North Carolina, who passed away on February 17, 2026, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Loton Samuel and Dossie Elisabeth Darnell Adams; her husband Russell Laverne Collins; her children, Terry Lou Collins and Dennis Russell "Buddy" Collins; her siblings, Mary Gentry, Vetril Holbrook and Sandy Lee Adams; her grandsons, Mark Edward Absher and Shane Michael Collins; and her great grandchildren, John Mark Absher and Conerly Morgan Absher.
She is survived by: her daughters, Ann Absher (Jerry) of North Wilkesboro and Marie Collins Poteate; her sister Virginia "Jenny" Adams Crews; her daughter-in-law Vicky Marsh Collins; her sister-in-law Hazel Adams Smiley; her grandchildren, Jeremy Chad Absher (Becky), Aaron Samuel Poteate (Sydney Dotterer) and Ashley Nicole Poteate; and her great grandchildren, Laura Clare Absher and Hudson Holland Poteate. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
