He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Woltz and Vena Lowe Atkins; his wife Betty Galyean Atkins; his grandson Martin Brady Sizemore; his brothers, Larry Wayne Atkins, Bobby Dean Atkins and Jimmy Cleve "Casey" Atkins; his nephew Butch Goings; and his brother-in-law Bill Goings.

He is survived by: his daughter Kim Atkins-Bruner; his son-in-law Benny; his son Kevin Gray Atkins; his daughter-in-law Nicole; his grandchildren, Emily Grace Bruner, Graylyn Harper Atkins and Andrea Paige Sizemore; and his siblings, Faye Goings, Mary Ann Atkins, Rev. Joe Atkins (Lonette) and Podge Atkins (Linda). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (215 W Kapp St, Dobson, NC 27017). A funeral service was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Moody-Davis Funeral Home Chapel (215 W Kapp St, Dobson, NC 27017). A burial was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the New Hope Baptist Church (818 Prison Camp Rd, Dobson, NC 27017).
