He was predeceased by : his parents, William Henry and Leona Thompson Capps. He is survived by : his wife Rose Evans Capps; his children, Timothy Capps of Goldsboro, Kevin Capps of Goldsboro, Ronnie Thompson (Tania) of Mar Mac, David "Runt" Thompson (Tanya) of Grantham and Jennie Kornegay (Willie) of Grantham; his siblings, Richard Capps and Teresa Summerlin of Goldsboro; his pet Smokey; and his friend Kent Rivenbark. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.

Visitation was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home (2873 US-117, Dudley, NC 28333). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, April 25th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grantham Volunteer Fire Department, 3430 US 13 S., Goldsboro, NC 27530.
