She was predeceased by: her parents, Carl Strickland and Addie McCullen Strickland; her former husband John Paul Anders Sr.; her brothers, Bobby Strickland, Carrol Strickland, Edward Strickland and Eldon Strickland; and her grandchildren, Dana Bedford Champion and Alison Bedford Gipson.
She is survived by: her husband Joseph E. Venable; her children, John Paul Anders Jr. (Teri) of Pikeville, Steve Anders (JoAnn) of Goldsboro, Charles Venable (Cindy) of Winston Salem, Curtis Venable of Grantham, Matilda Bedford (Gerald) of Nahunta, Jeanne Hodgin (George Jr.) of Goldsboro, Carrie Woodard of Princeton and Loretta Farag of Atlanta, GA; her siblings, Raven Strickland of Mt. Olive, Myrtle Thompson of Mt. Olive and Barbara Ann Fognini (Tom) of Goldsboro; and her sister-in-law Faye Strickland of Mt. Olive. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
