He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Gideons Vinson; his children, Cheryl Vinson Stafford (Mitchel) and Samuel Kent Vinson (Michelle); his grandchildren, Ashleigh Stafford of Dudley, Ava Vinson of Dudley and Kaylee Vinson of Dudley; and his nephew Michael Phelps (Susan) of Raleigh.
