She is survived by: her children, Margaret Ann Herring of Raleigh and Howard Lee Herring (Jeanette) of Dunn; her grandchildren, Andrew Duncan Herring (Maggie) of Manteo and Margaret Herring Gurkin (Cuyler) of Dunn; and her great grandchildren, Robert Townsend Gurkin and Worth Archibald Gurkin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
