He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Johnny McKerry Phillips and Darlene C. Phillips of Dunn, NC; his nephew Jon Christopher Phillips (Allison); his children, Katelyn Ann Phillips of San Antonio, TX and Matthew Paul Phillips of Dunn, NC; his siblings, Johnna April Fann (Gary) of Dunn, NC, Cindy Phillips Jackson (Kent) of Dunn, NC and Chris Phillips (Sylvia) of Mingo, NC; and his nieces and nephews, Brandi Engelhardt, Nathan Barefoot (Tiffany), Rachel Hoffman (Jamie), Samuel Medlin and Wyatt Medlin. He was also cherished by Many cousins, aunts, uncles, and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home (401 W Cumberland St, Dunn, NC 28334). A memorial service was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Cromartie-Miller Funeral Home (401 W Cumberland St, Dunn, NC 28334).
