It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shelby Godwin Porter of Dunn, North Carolina, who passed away on March 13, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Sion and Velma Core Godwin; her children, Mary Ann Lucas and Michael Ray Lucas; and her siblings, William "Bill" Godwin, Jimmy Godwin, Jerry Godwin, Gary "Tootsie" Godwin and Carolyn Godwin Jernigan.
She is survived by: her children, Raymond Lucas, Deborrah Hudson (Donald Ray) of Dunn, Rev. Glenn Lucas (Karen) of Coats and Marshall Lucas (Sue) of Erwin; her grandchildren, Keith Hudson (Paige) of LaGrange, Kasey Moore (Kevin) of Fayetteville, Kelly Gillis (Ray) of Coats, Christopher Lucas (Lindsay) of Flagler Beach, Stephanie Downs (Will) of Loveland, Candace Godwin (Shane) of Lillington, Brooks Stewart of Erwin, Amy Stewart of Benson, Emily Stewart of Benson, Erin Bell of Dunn, Nicole Fleming (Justin Farthing) of Benson and Robert Jackson of Smithfield; and her siblings, George Godwin of Dunn, Donald Ray Godwin of Goldsboro, Glenda Smith of Goldsboro, Margie Godwin of Dunn, Lorraine Johnson of Dunn and Teresa Baker of Goldsboro. She is also survived by twenty-two great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Saturday, March 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Skinner & Smith Funeral Home (905 Erwin Rd, Dunn, NC 28334). A funeral service was held on Sunday, March 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Skinner & Smith Funeral Home Chapel (905 Erwin Rd, Dunn, NC 28334).
