With sadness, we share the passing of Bobby Gene Hancock in Durham, North Carolina. Bobby, born on October 5, 1931, passed away on October 28, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Taft Hancock and Mary Byrd Wilson; his wife Shirley Hill Hancock; his son Blake Hancock; his daughter-in-law Margi Hancock; and his brothers, Richard Hancock, Larry Wilson and Jimmy Wilson.
He is survived by: his sons, Tony Hancock and Marty Hancock (Cindy Wheeler); his grandchildren, Joshua Billings (Shannon), Thad Billings (Kyla), Marli Appel, Tayler Hancock, Janiya Smith and Khiya Smith; his great grandchildren, Kinsley Billings, Jocelyn Billings and Kinsley Appel; and his siblings, Judy Roberts (Wayne) and Phillip Wilson (Beverly). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 4th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Maplewood Cemetery (1621 Duke University Rd, Durham, NC 27701).
