She was predeceased by: her parents, James Ware and Bertha Mae Walls Ware; her son Anthony Scurlock; and her siblings, Stella Rogers and Tom Brewster Ware.
She is survived by: her husband Charles Napoleon Scurlock Jr.; her children, Regina Roundtree, Jeanene Scurlock, Jarrod Scurlock (Von) of Durham, NC and Nicholas Scurlock of Durham, NC; and her siblings, Mamie Rayford of Newburgh, NY, Jerline Ware of Vails Gate, NY, Linda Pitchford of Batesville, MS, James M. Ware Jr. (Verona) of Wappingers Falls, NY, William Ware of Batesville, MS and Robert L. Ware (Essie) of Batesville, MS. She is also survived by Twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
A celebration of life was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Ellis D. Jones Funeral Home (419 Dowd St, Durham, NC 27701).
