He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Bickett Lee and E. Clarice Lee; and his sister Dorothy Vann. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Walker Lee; his children, Teresa Wilkinson (Billy) and Charles Lee (Joanne); his grandchildren, April W. Yandle (Kevin), Laura Wilkinson, Meredith Lee and McKenzie Lee; and his siblings, Arch (Paulette) and Wanda Wilkinson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Masonic Home for Children at 600 College Street, Oxford, NC 27565.
