He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Rives, Sr. and Marviilee Rives; his sister Pat Rives; his former wife Carolyn Rives; and his stepson Brad Pelletier.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Rives; his son Jimmy Rives (Tracey); his granddaughter Christen Miller (Dustin Miller); his great grandchild Watson Miller; his stepson Doug Bass (Shannon); his stepgranddaughters, Savannah Bass and Alexandra Johnson (Ryan); his great grandchild Parker Johnson; his stepdaughter Rebekah Pelletier (Rae Franklin); and his stepgranddaughters, Skyler Pelletier and Scarlett Pelletier.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Calvary Baptist Church (1204 Lynn Rd, Durham, NC 27703). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
