She is survived by: her children, Karen Hunt Burgin (Benjamin), Bethany Hunt Slack (Andrew) and Brian Daniel Hunt; and her grandchildren, Ryland Burgin, Dalton Burgin, Kailyn Burgin, Austyn Slack, Luke Slack, James Slack and Patrick Slack. She is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
Prior to working at Duke, she also held various jobs in the Durham community, including the Durham County Courthouse and the American Heart Association.
