He was predeceased by: his parents, Kennerson Briggs and Sallie Briggs; his wife Jeanette Hawks Briggs; and his siblings, Buck Briggs and Linda Hilton.

He is survived by: his friend Margaret Huff; his niece Robin Blevins (Gary); his great-niece Ellen; his great-nephew Billy Blevins; his brothers-in-law, Steve Hawks (Reba), Skip Hawks (Debbie) and James Hilton; and his nieces, Dana, Amanda and Rachel.

Flowers are appreciated or memorials may be made in his honor to Mt. Zion Baptist Church for the Cemetery Fund.
