With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elizabeth Carlisle Culley (Durham, North Carolina), who passed away on April 15, 2024 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, James Perry Whitfield and Eleanor Stone Whitfield; her former life partner James Paul Culley (Albert Forrest Dailey); and her uncles, Robert L. Stone and John D. Stone.

She is survived by : her brother James Perry Whitfield, Jr.; her children, Thad B. Culley (Erin Culley), Tonya Culley, Chris Culley (Shannon Culley) and Marybeth E. Nevins (Thomas); her grandchildren, Andi Culley, Felix Culley-Provenzano, Aurelia Culley-Provanzano, Zachary E. Nevins, Emma Culley, Thomas J. Nevins IV and Christopher Culley; her niece Allison Whitfield; her nephew James Perry "Trip" Whitfield; and her close friend Judy Bullock (Mary Lou Henderson). She is also survived by cousins and second cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 18th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Watts St. Baptist Church (800 Watts St, Durham, NC 27701).
